Sunbury is a city in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States.  It dates to the early 18th century and is the county seat of Northumberland County.  Sunbury is located at the point where the west and north branches of the Susquehanna converge.

Thomas Edison looms large in the city’s history. Historic sites found in the city include the Beck House, Northumberland County Courthouse, and Sunbury Historic District – all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Sunbury is the largest principal city of the Sunbury-Lewisburg-Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, a Combined Statistical Area (CSA) that includes the Sunbury (Northumberland County), Lewisburg (Union County), and Selinsgrove (Snyder County) micropolitan areas.

The City of Sunbury is currently operating under its most recent plan “Coming Together–Sunbury’s Plan for the New City” – 2012 Sunbury Comprehensive Plan.
