SRI committees are the backbone of the organization. From manning our booth at SRI events to maintaining and beautifying our neighborhoods, our committee members work tirelessly growing Sunbury and its many diverse communities.

Albright Center

Chair: Bob Zimmerman & John Shipman
The Albright Council is dedicated to transforming the former Albright Church on Chestnut Street into a community art center. When completed, the newly restored and modernized Albright Center will be a multipurpose space capable of accommodating conferences, large banquets, and live performances. Four volunteer committees advise the council towards the goal of creating regional draw and becoming an economic engine for the entire Susquehanna Valley.

Business and Economic Development

Chairs: Aimee Buehner & Derek Wolfgang
The Business & Economic Development Committee is dedicated to the recruitment and retention of businesses in the City of Sunbury. The committee works with the city government, the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of  Commerce, Susquehanna Industrial Development Corporation, the SBDC at Bucknell, the local business community, and other organizations to encourage businesses and individuals to invest, operate, and succeed in Sunbury.

Hill Neighborhood Council

The Hill Neighborhood Association hosts various events within the Hill section of Sunbury that cultivate a strong harmonious environment where residents are proud to live, work and play.

Brews on Lake Augusta: Wine and Beer Festival

Chair: Hill Neighborhood Council
The Brews on Lake Augusta: Wine and Beer Festival celebrates the best the Valley has to offer from the fruit of the vine to the hops from the ground. Our vintners and brewers work hard to produce the best of the Susquehanna Valley and we are proud to showcase their wares alongside regional merchandisers for a day of good times and good cheer along the beautiful Susquehanna River.

Membership

Membership is the heart of SRI. The team that comprises the Membership Committee is dedicated to connecting with our members and understanding their needs and goals. To ensure the longevity and viability of SRI, the Membership Committee also performs the duties of the Nominating Committee.

Movies on the River

Chair: Brianna Apfelbaum Kula
The Movies on the River committee is dedicated to providing nights of family fun at the Sunbury River Front Park. The committee handles the logistics behind a craft fair, food concessions, and family-friendly movies during the summer months.

Old Towne Neighborhood

Chair: Meghan Beck
The Old Towne neighborhood works within the business district of downtown Sunbury to Improve safety, community health and neighborhood image. They also encourage businesses to become a part of the downtown and promote the livable, walkable nature of downtown Sunbury.

Sunbury River Festival

Chairs: Laurie Johnson, Mark Lawrence, Slade Shreck
The Sunbury River Festival Committee oversees the planning and implementation of the city’s largest annual event.  Hosted along the Susquehanna River and Market Street, this event kicks off the three-day event with the Valley’s Got Talent Show and ends in grand fashion with a free Saturday night After Hours Show right on the Riverfront.

Susquehanna River Cleanup

Chairs: Zachariah Stotter
The Susquehanna River Cleanup Project began as a group of friends concerned about the health of the Susquehanna River and the debris on its shores from years of littering and Fall 2011’s extensive flooding. The project, which was formerly it’s own nonprofit organization is now a wonderful addition to SRI. We are a volunteer-centered committee based around the central Susquehanna River Valley.

Sunbury Pride and Renaissance Coalition (SPARC)

Chair: Cory Fasold
The SPARC Committee works to enhance the image of the City of Sunbury as well as benefit its residents. SPARC works with the City government and other groups to make City improvement and enhancement ideas a reality.  Past projects include the Sunbury Riverfront Project, “Welcome to Sunbury” signs, the Market Street hanging flower baskets, the Cameron Park enhancement project, and the Wolverton Street enhancement project.
